One reason dreams never come true is that we don’t have a system in place to work towards them. I would like to encourage you to dream and here are some steps to help you attain them:

What is your dream?

Everything begins in the heart and mind. Obviously, your dream has to be an legally attainable one. Every great achievement began in the mind of one person. They dared to dream, to believe that it was possible. “What if?” is the kind of dream you should be dreaming. Think big and don’t settle for average. Don’t let negative thinking discourage you. Dream of the possibilities for yourself, your family, and for others. Don’t let past hurts or disappointments restrain you.

Believe in your dreams

Your dream needs to be something that when dreamt seems to be beyond your capabilities. However if it is believable and attainable, it is a good dream. You must be able to say that if certain things take place, if others help, if you work hard enough, though it is a big dream, it can still be done. This is the kind of dream you should be having. Write down the specific steps you have to take towards reaching your goal as also the kind of help you will need from others.

See your dreams as though they are real

Great achievers have a habit. They “see” things. They picture themselves walking around having already achieved their dreams even though it is yet to be fulfilled. For instance if your dream is to be a good photographer, achievers start seeing their clicks winning international prizes or being that one photographer, in the whole world, with a unique click. Someone wanting to be an author starts seeing himself winning the Booker Prize. All of this grooms the mind to control the body to carry out the dream. Write down specific action steps you can take towards attaining your goal. (The writing down part is important). Then set aside a few hours a week to actually implement each step. Record dates to begin/complete each step and follow it realistically. Don’t be afraid of failure. Dream better and plan better for the next attempt.

Inform others

Don’t let your dream live only in the inside of your mind. Tell it to others you can trust. This holds us accountable, it spurs us on to work hard towards our objectives, so we don’t look foolish.

When you know that someone aware of your dream is going to challenge you, it encourages us to work hard on our action plans. Even though it is your dream, the best ideas are accomplished when people work together towards a common vision. Don’t be afraid to invite others to help you accomplish your dream as needed.

Work Hard

The successful achievers are usually the hardest workers. While the rest of the world is sitting on their couch watching re-runs of Big Bang Theory, achievers are working on their goal – achieving their dream.

Get Going Now

Make the beginning to accomplish your dreams in however tiny way you can. Procrastination, negativity & fears delay achievement and the less likely you are to begin. Start today.

There were once 2 brothers who lived on the 80th level. On coming home one day, they realized to their dismay that the lifts were not working and that they have to climb the stairs home.

After struggling to the 20th level, panting and tired, they decided to abandon their bags and come back for them the next day. They left their bags then and climbed on. When they have struggled to the 40th level, the younger brother started to grumble and both of them began to quarrel. They continued to climb the flights of steps, quarreling all the way to the 60th floor.

They then realized that they have only 20 levels more to climb and decided to stop quarreling and continue climbing in peace. They silently climbed on and reached their home at long last. Each stood calmly before the door and waited for the other to open the door. And they realized that the key was in their bags which was left on the 20th floor.

This story is reflecting on our life…many of us live under the expectations of our parents, teachers and friends when young. We seldom get to do the things that we really like and love and are under so much pressure and stress so that by the age of 20, we get tired and decided to dump this load.

Being free of the stress and pressure, we work enthusiastically and dream ambitious wishes. But by the time we reach 40 years old, we start to lose our vision and dreams. We began to feel unsatisfied and start to complain and criticize. We live life as a misery as we are never satisfied. Reaching 60, we realize that we have little left for complaining anymore, and we began to walk the final episode in peace and calmness.

We think that there is nothing left to disappoint us, only to realize that we could not rest in peace because we have an unfulfilled dream …… a dream we abandoned 60 years ago.

So what is your dream? Follow your dreams, so that you will not live with regrets.
